As we have already reported (e.g. here: https://hello.uni.opole.pl/blog/2017/03/07/womens-day-wish-respect/ ), there have been some political difficulties with right wingers in Poland recently. But the policy of our government and their legislation is not the one and only problem. Another one is National Radical Camp (ONR), which is very radical right social movement, whose members are against women’s rights, foreigners and the European Union. Very often commentators compare their beliefs to those of fascists’ and Nazi’s. Unfortunately, they are supported by some politicians and catholic priests.
So we would like to warn you (especially our Ukrainian students, but not only them), that today (Mar 19), in the Krakowska street, ONR is going to hold a manifestation against Ukrainian immigrants. We recommend you to be very careful this day and stay away from the city centre. We also want to remind you that our University strongly supports you. If you have any problems, do not hesitate to contact us and ask for help.
Be safe!
