EUROPEAN ENVIRONMENTAL LAW

The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the basic concepts and treaty foundations of the EU environmental policy, basic principles and sources of EU environmental law, and with the practice of implementing international environmental agreements into the secondary EU law. Students will understand the genesis and foundations of the environmental acquis and its basic principles, values and objectives. They will learn about the sources of the EU environmental law and understand the logic of implementation of the international agreements into the EU secondary low. They will also get practical ability to exploit the opportunities offered by treaties, international environmental agreements and secondary EU law to the EU citizens connected with environmental protection and they will be able to use in practice the knowledge of the rules of the international and EU tribunals.
