On 4-5 Nov 2019 the University of Opole hosted a “kick-off-meeting” of an european project “Technologically enhanced online opportunities for language learning in inclusive education”. The project is carried out within the framework of the Strategic Partnership programme. Our partners are: Teacher Training Centre in Opole, Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, Zentrum für schulpraktische Lehrerausbildung Münster (Munster, Germany), Fundacio Universitaria Balmes (Barcelona-Vic, Spain), University of Cyprus (Nicosia, Cyprus) and Kaye Academic College of Education (Beersheva, Israel).
Our international project won plaudits from the reviewers and received funding of nearly 300.000 euro from the Erasmus+ Programme. Over the next 36 months, project participants will prepare a forum for exchanging experiences between teachers, an e-learning platform and an online course. All the activities should be focused on the needs of both students and teachers in relation to broadly understood cultural and social inclusion in teaching foreign languages. In the first edition of the project, our consortium will focus on teaching English, offering solutions also for German and Spanish teachers. Expanding those fields may become the step forward towards future editions of the project.
On the first day all the participants were welcomed by the city authorities at the Teacher Training Centre in Opole. The next day the group met with the Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, prof. Izabella Pisarek at the University of Opole.
The University of Opole is represented in the consortium by Elżbieta Szymańska-Czaplak – Dean of the Faculty of Philology, and Tomasz Sutarzewicz – faculty coordinator and plenipotentiary of the Dean of the Faculty of Philology for promotion and business contacts.
