A teleconference between Opole and Taiwan on Liberal Arts

On 6th September 2018 University of Opole and National Chung Hsing University in Taiwan held a two-hour-long academic teleconference. UO was represented by two speakers: dr hab Katarzyna Molek-Kozakowska from the Institute of English and dr Michał Wanke from the Institute of Sociology, who co-operate within the team that is has been developing a new programme of studies at UO called Master of Liberal Arts. The interactions on the Chinese side were co-ordinated by Prof. Rose Hsiu-li Juan, Deputy Dean of the College of Liberal Arts. The teleconference was devoted to exchanging experiences, materials and ideas related to interdisciplinary study programmes within liberal arts, as well as to common research interests and educational projects that could be designed and pursued within the recently created Communication Research Lab at the Faculty of Philology. The online meeting was a result of contacts established with partner institutions during the Central European Staff Week organized last April by the Office for International Study Programmes, UO Erasmus Office (K107 Action) and the Lab. Future teleconferences of this kind are planned to share information about challenges and successes in overcoming barriers to interdisciplinary research and educational projects.

Liberal Arts w Opolu i na Tajwanie – telekonfernecja

6 września 2018 roku odbyła się dwugodzinna telekonferencja między Uniwersytetem Opolskim a National Chung Hsing University na Tajwanie. Z naszej strony prelegentami byli dr hab Katarzyna Molek-Kozakowska z Instytutu Filologii Angielskiej i dr Michał Wanke z Instytutu Socjologii, którzy współpracują w zespole przygotowującym dokumentację do otwarcia nowego kierunku Master of Liberal Arts (w ramach Zintegrowanego Programu Rozwoju UO PO WER 2014-2020 Działanie 3.5). Po stronie chińskiej spotkanie koordynowała prodziekan College of Liberal Arts Prof. Rose Hsiu-li Juan. Telekonferencja miała charakter roboczy i dotyczyła wymiany doświadczeń, materiałów i pomysłów na prowadzenie interdyscyplinarnych kierunków studiów w zakresie “sztuk wyzwolonych” oraz możliwości współpracy dydaktycznej i badawczej w ramach Pracowni Badań nad Komunikacją na Wydziale Filologicznym. Telekonferencja jest pokłosiem kontaktów nawiązanych w trakcie kwietniowego spotkania partnerskiego Central European Staff Week współorganizowanego przez sekcję ds Międzynarodowych Programów Studiów, Biuro Erasmus (Akcja K107) i Pracownię Badań nad Komunikacją. Kolejne telekonferencje zaplanowane na najbliższy rok akademicki mają na celu dzielenie się informacjami o wyzwaniach i sukcesach w przełamywaniu barier w prowadzeniu badań i kształcenia interdyscyplinarnego.
