Relacje z Chinami / Relations with China
One Belt One Road – wiele szans, wiele możliwości – pod takim hasłem we wtorek 25 kwietnia odbyła się w Opolu konferencja polsko-chińska. Jej głównym organizatorem był Wojewoda Opolski a współorganizatorami Urząd Miasta Opola oraz Politechnika Opolska. Uniwersytet Opolski był reprezentowany m.in. przez przedstawicieli Biura ds. Międzynarodowych Programów Studiów, wykładowców i studentów.
W pierwszej, plenarnej sesji konferencji udział wzięli m.in. przedstawiciele Kancelarii Prezydenta RP, Senatu RP, Wojewody Opolskiego a także uczelni wyższych i lokalnego biznesu. W drugiej części odbyły się trzy panele tematyczne: Biznes, Nauka oraz Rząd i Samorząd. Nas najbardziej interesował oczywiście panel naukowy, w którym uczestniczyliśmy jako słuchacze. W konferencji wzięli udział również m.in. Ambasador Chińskiej Republiki Ludowej w Polsce, posłowie na sejm RP oraz lokalni politycy.
Równie ważne jak sesje plenarne były oczywiście kulisy konferencji, gdzie można było w mniej formalnej atmosferze porozmawiać z uczestnikami, zrobić wspólne zdjęcia, posłuchać tradycyjnej chińskiej muzyki granej na żywo oraz zapisać swoje imię po chińsku. Dla nas była to przede wszystkim okazja do promowania naszej szkoły letniej (https://hello.uni.opole.pl/summer) oraz anglojęzycznych programów studiów (https://hello.uni.opole.pl/study) wśród chińskich akademików, którzy odwiedzili nasze stoisko. Dzięki naszemu studentowi z Chin, który asystował nam jako tłumacz, mieliśmy także możliwość udzielenia wywiadu dla chińskiej telewizji.
Międzynarodowe konferencje są okazją do nawiązywania nowych kontaktów z zagranicznymi jednostkami i konferencja One Belt One Road nie była wyjątkiem od tej reguły. Bezpośrednim rezultatem obecności przedstawicieli Uniwersytetu Opolskiego na tym wydarzeniu było spotkanie prorektora ds. Nauki i Finansów Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, prof. dr hab. Janusza Słodczyka, z panem Fajun Zhangiem – kierownikiem biura ds. kontaktów międzynarodowych z Southwest University of Chongqing – oraz profesorem Sha Jin Mingiem z Fujian Normal University. Obaj wyrazili chęć podpisania umów o współpracy. Byli szczególnie zainteresowani wysłaniem swoich studentów na naszą Letnią Szkołę Języka Angielskiego (https://hello.uni.opole.pl/summer), której druga edycja odbędzie się w lipcu tego roku. Następnie do rektoratu zaproszona została profesor Lin Zhongyan z Minjiang University i pan Linbin Song – przedstawiciel firmy Comvee, która zajmuje się aplikacjami monitorującymi diabetyków. Postanowiono, że Uniwersytet Opolski będzie partnerem Comvee w grancie, o który firma ubiegać się w Ministerstwie Nauki Chińskiej Republiki, z kolei z Minjiang University podpisana zostanie umowa o współpracy.
Wzmacnianie współpracy z Chinami jest strategicznym krokiem mającym na celu rozszerzenie okazji do rozwoju studentom Uniwersytetu Opolskiego. Oprócz wyżej wspomnianych planów i decyzji, uniwersytet otrzymał propozycję podpisania umowy partnerskiej z Fujian University of Technology reprezentowanej przez dra Xiaohong Zhanga. Ponadto, w maju podpisanie zostana umowa z Departamentem ds. Szkolnictwa Wyższego prowincji Fujian. Relacjami Uniwersytetu Opolskiego z Chinami od lat zajmuje się Dr. Stankomir Nicieja, dzięki któremu nasi studenci mogą uczęszczać na intensywne kursy języka chińskiego prowadzone przez native speakerkę, jak i również wziąć udział w wymianie studenckiej z Fujian Normal University.
This Tuesday, on April 25th, the Office for International Study Programmes, faculty staff and students of the University of Opole attended an international Polish-Chinese conference entitled One Belt One Road – wiele szans, wiele możliwości. The event was co-organised by Opole Voivode together with Opole City Hall and Opole University of Technology.
During the first plenary session the floor was taken by the representatives of the Chancellery of the President of of Poland, the Polish Senate, Opole Voivodeship as well as of the universities and regional businesses. Afterwards, the participants could join one of the three panels according to the area of their interest, namely, Business, Science, Government and Local Government. We were mostly interested in the panel dedicated to the education sphere. The conference was also attended by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, members of the Polish Parliament and local politicians.
Besides the statements given by the speakers in the course of the plenary sessions, we could enjoy the informal atmosphere of the conference, taking photos with other participants, listening to the traditional Chinese music performed live or having our names written in Chinese characters. It was also a suitable occasion to promote the English study programmes (https://hello.uni.opole.pl/study) offered by the University of Opole to the representatives of the Chinese universities. Having a student from China in our team who assisted us as an interpreter, we had an opportunity to give an interview to a Chinese TV channel.
Conferences provide multiple opportunities for attendees to form new relations and develop new contacts, and this one was not an exception. The first outcome of establishing contacts at the conference was the meeting of vice-rector of the University of Opole professor Janusz Słodczyk with professor Fajun Zhang, the head of the international office of Southwest University of Chongqing and professor Sha Jin Ming from Fujian Normal University, who expressed their intention to sign cooperation agreements, and were particularly interested in sending their students to our English Language Summer School (https://hello.uni.opole.pl/summer) this July. Moreover, yesterday the rector’s office hosted professor Lin Zhongyan from Minjiang University and Mr Libin Song, a representative of the Comvee company, which produces diabetes monitoring applications. The universities reached an agreement on international partnership for a grant of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, and discussed the memorandum of cooperation between the University of Opole and the Minjiang University.
It is worth mentioning that strengthening bilateral cooperation with China is strategically important in order to provide ample opportunities to our students. As for now, in addition to the above-mentioned cooperation plans, the university has been invited to sign an agreement with Fujian University of Technology represented by Dr. Xiaohong Zhang. Moreover, the agreement with the Department of Higher Education of the Fujian province is expected to be signed in May. The mediator of relations with China of the University of Opole has been a representative of Philology Faculty academic staff, Dr. Stankomir Nicieja, thanks to whom students of the University of Opole have been able to attend intensive Chinese language courses taught by a native speaker as well as to take part in a study exchange with Fujian Normal University.
