Public transport in Opole is operated by the MZK bus network, which provides convenient access to various parts of the city. Some routes also cover suburban areas, for which out-of-Town tickets are required (routes: 8 – beyond the ‘Nyska’ stop; 15 – beyond the ‘Prószkowska-Ligudy’ stop; 16 – ‘Niemodlińska-Cmentarz’; 80 – ‘Dworcowa-Przejazd Kolejowy’). Tickets can be purchased from:
- ticket machines located in buses (and at some bus stops), with the option to pay by card;
- the mobile app (present your virtual ticket during a ticket inspection).
Students with a valid student ID card are entitled to purchase reduced tickets. Remember to always carry your student ID card with you to show during ticket inspections, together with your validated ticket.
Useful apps
- Google Maps – navigating app providing routes for pedestrian, car, bicycle and public transport.
- Jakdojade – shows available routes from point A to point B, taking into account the current timetable, changes and the walking route to/from the bus stop
- KiedyPrzyjedzie – this app shows the real-time location of a selected bus and the time at which the bus will arrive at the selected stop.
- zBiletem/moBilet – apps that allow you to purchase a ticket (e-ticket). To make a purchase, you need the 3-digit side number of the vehicle (e.g. 505), which is displayed on the front of the vehicle or inside, above the doors. Each bus has its own unique side number. Tickets can also be purchased via the mobile apps of many Polish banks (including PKO BP, Pekao, Santander and ING).
- Bolt/Uber– in case you are in hurry or will miss all your buses, you can order taxi through app.
