Erasmus+ mobility in the eyes of its participants
In July 2022, prof. Marlys Peck from University of Central Missouri and dr Marzanna Pogorzelska from University of Opole visited each other’s insitutions within Erasmus+ mobility programme.
Prof. Marlys Peck commented on her visit at University of Opole:
I was excited to have the opportunity to participate in the Summer School experience offered at University of Opole. I was most impressed and inspired by how every activity carried out the theme of symbolic boundaries throughout the week. From the city’s historical context to the former POW Camp Museum to the world’s current issues, the theme was interwoven, and connections were discussed. The program was designed for every student and professor to participate as a student. Other faculty presentations enhanced my teaching session on cultural diversity. I learned new sources of information, ways to think about topics, and new interests. The students had very positive feedback and questions, and I was encouraged by their level of critical thinking. Bringing together undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. students with professors from many different countries provided learning that cannot be obtained simply in books or recordings. It must be experienced in person, and I am grateful to have participated.
Dr Marzanna Pogorzelska about her didactic-training mobility realized at University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg:
Thanks to the visit at University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg I could have lectures and discussions with American students and their teachers, who were really interested in the presented topics. They mainly referred to intercultural issues in Polish and East European context which turned out to be important for students and faculty members.. The visit also contributed to further cooperation between UCM and Institute of Linguistics of University of Opole as the possibility of the joint research project related to intercultural and sociolinguistic issues were discussed during the meetings. Another important element of the mobility was exchanging experiences on teaching methods and organizational culture of both institutions and gaining knowledge on equality-related policies organizations and events at UCM, which can be very useful for me as Plenipotentiary for Equal Treatment at University of Opole.
