We are pleased to invite you for the Adaptation Week at the University of Opole. From 3rd till 7th October we will be showing you the University, the town and its surroundings.
First of all, we would like you to enjoy yourselves, get interested and involved, and strike new friendships. At the same time, the Adaptation Week will be an integral part of your studies, necessary for the proper start. This is why we expect you to participate in all the meetings and trips marked in red (obligatory).
If you participate in the celebrations of the Adaptation Week, you will have our permission to skip the lectures.
The programme is as follows:
3rd October

Inauguration of the Erasmus+ Studies in the Blue Auditorium of the Collegium Maius (Address: 11A Kopernika Square, Room No. 301) at 10.00 am.
Please find below the photo of the building. I believe you recognize it. It is located next to Collegium Minus (the one in which Erasmus+ office is situated). The Buddies will help you to get there. The meeting at the entrance hall of Niechcic at 9.40 am.
You are welcome & expected to be there. We will discuss the matters connected with your studies, make a presentation of our University and answer your questions. We have also prepared a surprise for you.

Coach tour to Bierkowice – starting point at 11:20 am (two buses will be provided at the car park in front of Collegium Maius)
You are welcome & expected to be there. Please take warm clothes to protect you from cold, wind or rain, strong waterproof shoes for walking on soil which can be wet. From 12:00 pm till 2.00 pm you will be visiting our open-air museum, showing our region’s village life, work and celebration centuries ago.

Meeting in “ZAGŁOBA” restaurant (trying traditional dumplings, that is “Pierogi”) at 2:15 pm

Holy Mass at 6:00 pm – St Jadwiga’s Church in Drzymały Street (in Polish “kościół seminaryjno-akademicki”)
This is not compulsory. If you are Christian and understand some Polish, or if you simply would like to participate in a Catholic ceremony and integrate with us, feel free to attend our Holy Mass at the church strictly connected with the Faculty of Theology of our University. We will be praying for Students and Academics of our University and a successful academic year.
4th October

Inauguration of the Academic Year at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Theology in Drzymały Street at 11:00 am
It will be the 67th time our Institution opens a new academic year and important persons will make their appearance – among others, our Rector – prof. dr hab. Marek Masnyk, and the special guest prof. dr hab. Marek S. Szczepański, a specialist in the subject area of social sciences. You would also have a chance to listen to our Academic Choir “Dramma Per Musica”. The Inauguration will be broadcast live. Please mind the speeches will be in Polish.
If you are interested in participating in this event please let us know (erasmus@uni.opole.pl) till Sunday (02.10.2016 – 9:00 pm). The staff of our International Office will guide those who are willing to go to the site of the Inauguration Meeting.

You are welcome & expected to be there. We will show you around the centre of our town, not only to make you familiar with its historical and cultural value, but also to help you get around easily. You will see the best of our town within 1 hour.

Visit at the Opole ZOO – starting point at Niechcic dormitory

You are welcome & expected to be there. ZOO in the city of Opole was founded in 1930. About 20 hectares (49 acres) in extent, it houses around 1000 animals of about 240 different species.

You are welcome & expected to be there. The whole ice rink is reserved for you as well as we will rent ice skates for you!

Welcoming party for foreign students at Student Culture Centre (95 Katowicka Street – Campus) from 5.00 pm till 10.00 pm.
12th October

Grand Barbecue at Campus of Opole University, start at 7.00 pm.
Programme: invitation of new students by older students, barbecue, music scene with lot of electronic music. After party at CINA CLUB.
