More than 150 pupils from Wieluń junior high school and high school visited the Institute of Sociology of the University of Opole to work with the concept of the otherness during the intercultural workshops organized by the students’ organization Hello! and our foreign students. We started with a short survey, that will be used as a research material to understand the pupils’ attitudes. Then, we moved to the group work, where our Belgium, German, Montenegro, Ukraine, Spanish, Pakistani, Afghani, Taiwanese, Greek and Turkish students presented their countries and talked to the students about prevalent stereotypes. We concluded with a brief discussion.
Starting next academic year, we open enrollment to the MA programme in Intercultural Communication and we are looking forward to having discussions like today at the Institute of Sociology.
Ponad 150 uczniów z Wieluńskiego gimnazjum i liceum odwiedziło Instytut Socjologii Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, żeby popracować z innością na warsztatach międzykulturowych zorganizowanych przez organizację Hello! i naszych zagranicznych studentów. Rozpoczęliśmy od krótkiej ankiety, która posłuży jako materiał badawczy, żeby zrozumieć postawy uczniów. Następnie przeszliśmy do pracy grupowej, gdzie nasi Belgijscy, Niemieccy, Czarnogórscy, Ukraińscy, Hiszpańscy, Pakistańscy, Afgańscy, Tajwańscy, Greccy i Tureccy studenci przedstawili swoje kraje i rozmawiali z uczniami o pojawiających się stereotypach. Zakończyliśmy krótką dyskusją.
Od nowego roku akademickiego ruszamy z rekrutacją na magisterskie studia Intercultural Communication i mamy nadzieję na jeszcze więcej dyskusji takich jak dzisiaj w Instytucie Socjologii.
